Joining the LGPS
Once you have become a member of the Local Government Pension Scheme, you may wish to transfer your previous pension rights over to us.
The pension regulations require that a transfer should occur within twelve months of joining, it is therefore very important that if you are considering transferring benefits into the Teesside Pension Fund that you make enquiries as soon as possible.
Your employer does have a discretion as to whether they let you transfer in service after the twelve months, however, by doing so, you may lose out favorable terms which you will not enjoy in the future.
In order to speed up your retirement process, we must know of any other pension provision you may have, it is therefore important to inform us of your previous pension rights even if you do not with to transfer them into the Teesside Pension Fund.
If you have not received the form from your employer when you started, you can download the form below.
